Terms of use

occasions.ma is in beta: some features are not open yet, and the service and this page will change as it grows. We will tell you about important changes.

Who we are

occasions.ma is a website for buying and selling second-hand goods between private individuals in Morocco. It is published by:
occasions.ma
By using occasions.ma, you accept these terms of use. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.

What occasions.ma does

occasions.ma puts sellers and buyers in touch: sellers post ads, buyers search for them and contact the sellers. The sale is agreed directly between the buyer and the seller. occasions.ma is not a party to it: it does not sell the items, does not own them and does not guarantee them.
During the beta, there is no payment and no delivery through occasions.ma: the buyer and the seller agree between themselves on the price, the payment and the handover. Delivery by our own drivers, with payment held until the buyer confirms, will come later and will have terms of its own.
For your safety: meet in a public place, check the item before paying, and never pay in advance someone you do not know.

Your account

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use occasions.ma.
One account per person. Your account is personal: do not share it and do not use someone else’s.
You sign in with your Google account or, when we offer it, with a code sent by text message to your phone. During the beta, sign-ups may be limited to invited people.
Keep your information accurate. You are responsible for what is done with your account: tell us at once if you think someone else is using it.

Posting an ad

Post only items you own or are allowed to sell. Each ad describes one real item honestly: the right category, a true description and your own photos. The price is optional.
Do not put a phone number, an e-mail address or a link in the text or the photos of an ad: buyers contact you through the messages of occasions.ma, or by phone if you choose to show your number.
Do not post the same item more than once.
You alone are responsible for your ads and for the items you sell: their description, their condition, their lawfulness and the sale itself.

What may not be posted

The following are not allowed, in ads, photos, profiles or messages:
  • anything that is illegal in Morocco, or whose sale needs an authorisation you do not have;
  • counterfeit goods, copies of brands and stolen goods;
  • weapons, ammunition and explosives;
  • drugs, medicines, alcohol and tobacco;
  • animals whose sale is forbidden, such as protected species;
  • adult content, and anything violent, hateful or discriminatory;
  • identity documents and the personal data of other people;
  • fake ads, scams, misleading prices or photos, and requests for payment in advance;
  • photos or texts taken from someone else without permission.
This list is not complete: we may refuse any content that breaks the law or puts other members at risk.

Moderation and sanctions

Ads may be checked before or after they are published. Automatic checks can flag an ad for review; refusing an ad or sanctioning an account is decided by a person from our team.
We may refuse or remove an ad that breaks these terms. When we refuse your ad, we tell you why.
Any member can report an ad. We look at every report, and we never tell the person reported who reported them.
If an account breaks these terms, we may warn it, suspend it for a time (its ads are then hidden) or close it for good, depending on how serious the case is.

Your texts and photos

You keep the rights to the texts and photos you post. You allow occasions.ma, free of charge, to host them, copy them, adapt them (resize, crop, compress) and show them on its website and its apps, and in the previews shown when a link to your ad is shared or found in a search engine, for as long as your ad is online.
You confirm that you have the right to post them: they are your own, or you have permission.
An ad marked as sold stays visible, as sold, until you remove it.

Messages and phone number

Members can write to each other about an ad through occasions.ma. Keep your messages polite and about the sale: no spam, insults or threats. You can block a member at any time.
Your phone number is never shown publicly. If you choose to show it on your ads, signed-in members can reveal it, a limited number of times a day.

Help from artificial intelligence

When these features are offered, you can describe an item with a voice note, or send its description and photos to our WhatsApp assistant, and get a draft ad written by an automated tool.
A draft is only a suggestion and may contain mistakes. Check it and correct it before publishing: you remain responsible for the ad, as for any other.
How we handle your voice notes, messages and other data is explained in our Privacy policy.

Our responsibility

We do our best to keep occasions.ma available and secure, but we cannot promise that it will always work without interruption or error, especially during the beta.
We are not responsible for the items sold, for what buyers and sellers agree between themselves, or for the content members post. Within the limits allowed by law, we are only liable for direct damage caused by our own fault.
Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under Moroccan law, in particular law 31-08 on consumer protection.

Closing your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Deletion is immediate: your profile is anonymised, your ads are removed and your sign-in details are erased.
Some data is kept for a limited time when the law or the safety of other members requires it: for example, the messages you sent stay visible to the people who received them. The details are in our Privacy policy.
We may close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, for example when new features open. The new version will be published on this page; if a change matters, we will tell you before it applies. If you keep using occasions.ma afterwards, you accept the new terms.

Applicable law and disputes

These terms are governed by Moroccan law. If you have a problem, write to us first at contact@occasions.ma: we will look for a solution with you. Otherwise, the competent Moroccan courts will decide.
